Nadia and Svetlana are from Moldova: they have come to Italy to work as carers and cleaners. They are best friends even though they are of different ages. Nadia is almost fifty-eight: she arrived some years ago with the aim of paying off the debts she ran up alone so her children could go to university in Moldova. After a failed marriage she feels an emotional vacuum, which is why she loves going dancing. Svetlana, 31, has left her 3-year old daughter Eloisa behind in Moldova with her own mother in order to come to Italy. Now she is experiencing feelings of both guilt and strength. When big decisions have to be taken she goes to Nadia.
The film is a story about the fragility, strength and courage of migrant women managing their lives alone. A film about motherhood and love, abandoned and rediscovered in different forms, a series of setbacks and recoveries.
